About FAANS

The Florida Association of Academic Nonpublic Schools (FAANS) was established in the year 1979 as a 501.C3 Non-Profit Organization.

FAANS is an umbrella agency comprised of 22 Members, including 15 recognized “Accrediting Members.” FAANS members represent approximately 1,300 Florida nonpublic schools with more than 300,000 students.

FAANS does NOT accredit individual schools; it only sets high standards for organizations that wish to be granted “Accrediting Member” status.

Its membership represents all of the major nonpublic school faith-based and non- sectarian Accrediting and Non-Accrediting organizations in Florida and thus encompasses the majority of the nonpublic schools within Florida’s 67 Counties.

FAANS serves as a vital link between nonpublic schools and the Florida Legislature and the Florida Department of Education. It provides information for the many inquiries from parents, the media, national school organizations, and government agencies for information related to nonpublic school education in Florida.

FAANS is the Florida member of the Council for American Private Education (CAPE) in Washington, D.C.
